Cynthia Ahlstrin is also teaching two classes in October and November. Her classes are rich with information as well as materials and the books make great presents for the Holidays.
We will also have her books at our small Holiday fair on November 3rd at The Gallery along with other local artists present.
As usual I will be at The Gallery on Halloween night handing out treats for kids and adults and admiring each beautiful costume
Dr. Tamara E Blesh
Tamara has been experimenting with photography since her late teens followed up by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in design and photography. She went on for further education with degrees in video production, media, and instructional technology without ever losing her passion for documenting people, places, and things she encountered in her many years of travels. Her early works were mostly abstractions with an emphasis on cultural curiosities.
Jane Davis
Photography is for me is creative expression, but it is also a way to slowdown, observe and appreciate the world around me. Landscapes, close-ups, family and abstract experiments have all been part of my journey, butI’ve been increasingly drawn to still life photography.I like wandering the fields and woods of my neighborhood, observing thesmall and intriguing details. Bits of nature that I collect on my ramblessuggest stories. Back at home, I combine nature’s wild gifts and gifts frommy garden with everyday or time-worn objects that acknowledge thehuman presence. Shapes, color, textures and the magic of light all play apart as I try to convey the emotion or mood of this newly created small world.
In my practice of photography, I have benefitted from studying the work of painters as well as photographers. I have learned through workshops withFreeman Patterson in New Brunswick, Andre Gallant, Allen Rokach atMaine Media Workshops, and Chuck Haney in Montana. I have alsolearned from fellow photographers at the First Light Camera Club. I havebeen included in shows at various libraries, the Harlow Gallery, ThorntonOaks Retirement Community, and several times at the Maine PhotographyShow.

Making a Star Book and a Spiral Book!
This is the last workshop in Cynthia Ahlstrin’s series this autumn at the Gallery in Readfield. Please join in on the fun on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 1:00PM – 5:00PM! The Star book form is a great introduction to learning how to work in visual layers. It is also a book form that is in many ways the beginning of understanding pop-up books. Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to make a spiral book form. This artist’s book is thought of as a “toy” book. Both of these book forms are very sculptural in nature and just plain fun to make! No previous bookmaking experience is needed. All working materials are included in the cost of the class. Once registered for the class, students will receive a short list of a few additional items to bring to class (i.e. scissors, etc.).
Cost of Class: $75.00
Date of Class: Saturday, November 16, 2024
Time: 1:00PM – 5:00PM (Please note this workshop might run a few minutes longer as students will be learning two forms)
Maximum Number of Students: 8
Minimum Number of Students: 5
